This Initiative aims to strengthen collaboration and build partnerships between U.S. and Indian institutions of higher education. Each project receives an award that can be utilized over a two-year period, with the aim of promoting mutual understanding, encouraging educational reform and economic growth, and developing junior faculty at U.S. and Indian institutions of higher learning.
To implement this initiative, the Governments of India and the United States established a bi-national joint working group (JWG). The JWG provides the final approval for all grants awarded through the U.S.-India 21st Century Knowledge Initiative. The U.S. is represented by the Department of State and the Government of India is represented by the University Grants Commission.
USIEF announced the sixth & final round of U.S.-India 21st Century Knowledge Initiative Awards on August 24, 2018. There will be no further call for application as the competition is now closed.
