Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA)

This program offers grants to colleges and universities to support individual doctoral students conducting research abroad in modern foreign languages and area studies.

Duration: 6 to 12 months

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident.
  • Must be a graduate student in good standing at a U.S. institution of higher education and admitted to candidacy in a doctoral program focused on modern foreign languages and area studies when the fellowship begins.
  • Must plan to pursue a teaching career in the U.S. after graduation.
  • Must possess the necessary language skills to conduct the proposed dissertation research.
