He is on the editorial board of the Washington Quarterly. He has been awarded fellowships from the Council on Foreign Relations, The Fulbright Program, U.S. Institute of Peace, The Ford Foundation, Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation, Institute for the Study of World Politics, and Harvard University's Olin Institute and Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. Professor Legro received his B.A. from Middlebury College and Ph.D. from UCLA.

Many believe that the powerful dictate the rules. International order today, however, is being shaped by the bargains cut between established and emerging powers. As a Fulbright-Nehru scholar Professor Legro is examining the agreements that India has reached with the United States to understand their origins and impact on international order. What we do not understand well is the changing nature of India's purpose in order and what kind of deals will be possible with others (especially the United States). Professor Legro's research will illuminate the nature, sources, and consequences of India's preferences and deal making on international order.
