Jayaraman Chillayil, 2009-10, Fulbright-Nehru Environment Leadership Program alumnus was honored with the P S Gopinathan Nair award on April 22, the International Earth Day. The award is in memory of Nair, a noted environment activist from Kerala, India. Chillayil was honored for the various campaigns he has organized in Kerala for protecting the environment. He has also been instrumental in conducting several environment awareness campaigns for school children in the state.

Chillayil is senior manager at Bharat Petroleum’s Kochi refinery. During his Fulbright-Nehru tenure, Chillayil was at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California.
