USIEF Facts

  • USIEF is dedicated to embody the goals of the Fulbright Program by facilitating the promotion of mutual understanding between citizens of India and of United States by enabling opportunities and fostering conditions for fruitful interactions through academic and cultural exchanges.
     
  • USIEF is governed by a binational Board of Trustees, consisting of five Indian members, nominated by the Government of India, and five U.S. members nominated by the U.S. Ambassador to India.
     
  • The U.S. Ambassador to India and the Indian Foreign Secretary are the honorary co-chairs of the Board of Trustees.
     
  • USIEF offices are located in New Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
     
  • Since its creation, USIEF has awarded more than 10,000 Fulbright grants, and close to 9,000 other awards, including the Fulbright-Hays Fellowship (funded by the U.S. Department of Education).
