Position Overview - EducationUSA Senior Adviser
The EducationUSA Senior Adviser at USIEF Chennai oversees and enhances comprehensive counselling/advising services, directs group advising initiatives, and develops innovative outreach programs and events across Southern India. Under the supervision of the Regional Officer (Center Head), the Senior Adviser focuses on developing programs, events and activities towards achievement of EducationUSA’s program objectives and supporting the informational needs of students about studying in the U.S. The Senior Advisor also support the Regional Officer in center and team management.
Key Responsibilities
- Student Advising and Virtual Programming: Offer detailed guidance on the U.S. college admission process, including standardized tests, financial aid, student visas, and travel preparation.
- Outreach Programs: Design and implement educational advising programs aimed at increasing awareness about U.S. higher education throughout South India. Programs include fairs, seminars, workshops, and high school and college events.
- Networking: Build and maintain relationships with U.S. universities and Indian educational institutions to coordinate outreach efforts.
- Research and Resource Development: Stay informed on educational trends in India and the U.S. and develop advising materials as needed.
- Team Training: Support and train other advisers, ensuring consistent and accurate dissemination of information.
- Event Management: Plan and organize special events, such as educational fairs and international education week programs. Manage logistical aspects of events, secure venues, and oversee information desk responsibilities as needed.
- Library Resource Supervision: Oversee the EducationUSA library, recommending new resources to enhance the advising center’s offerings.
- Reporting: Oversee database management and monthly reporting and contribute to the annual work plan.
- National Level Initiatives: With approval from the supervisor, contribute to national-level EducationUSA projects including but not limited to the updating and enhancing EducationUSA website, CRM system, and other strategic and mission critical initiatives
Qualifications
Education:
Master's degree in any discipline required; an advanced degree or U.S. university degree will be an added advantage. Study experience in the U.S. preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of five years of relevant work experience in the education sector, with expertise in student advising and college admissions.
Skills and Competencies:
- Comprehensive understanding of the U.S. and Indian higher education systems
- High-level communication, presentation, and cross-cultural exchange skills
- Proficiency in MS Office, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), and social media
- Proven ability to organize and manage large-scale events
- Strong networking, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities
Additional Requirements:
This full-time role requires extensive travel and occasional evening/weekend availability.
